Stars

incredible though it seems
those stars up there
shining so bright
guiding travelers
controlling destinies
will some day die
I would rather be unborn black emptiness of sky

348

No One

to be no one
is to be;
mountain without dimensions
river without bounds
wildflower which dies
unseen unsung
by the wayside
is the freedom I seek

348

poems

I sing my songs
I do not know
they will die in wilderness
or live on in busy streets
winged things of my heart
I release them
to the call of their destiny
* I am told that poetry has no market in this country.

347

Pearls

in darkness of night
the restless ocean
reaches for the moon
unmindful
of lustrous white pearls
ripening in its bosom

346

The Lost

don't seek the lost
the blown away
dead autumn leaves
do not return
wait out the chill
and in the thaw
sow new hopes
if you will

345

Ocean

what makes me seek
my home in another
over and over
again and again?
night after night
the wistful ocean
reaches for the moon
falls back into its shores

344

Wholeness

bit by bit
I take myself back from the world
piece by piece
I put myself back together
within splendrous mosaic
of my wholeness
the flame leaps high
shadows dance
and somewhere
a child laughs out in delight

343

Crucified

hammered by nails
in hands and feet
pierced by the crown of thorns
who amongst us is not crucified
and seeks resurrection
again and again?

342

Serene

mourning losses
counting gains
so wrapped I am
and yet sometimes
I hear the quiet murmur
of river's flowing serenity

341

Poetry2

she dogs my heels
relentlessly
'look at the sky
that withering flower
see how the rain
makes love to earth
come feed me, feed me
I am hungry for words'
I am not fooled
by her seeming guilelessness
for I know what poetry
really asks of me
is the tearing open of heart
unmasking of soul
for only words
that spill forth from my truth
will sate her fathomless appetite

340

Homes

I know you not
by colour of your skin
shape of your face
feel of your flesh
our souls have made homes
in one another
across passages
hidden from space
older than time
we meet and find
harbourage

339

Rain

she sometimes wished
her heart so heavy
with love unspoken
would rise to heavens
as rain filled cloud
and there dissolving
in joyous downpour
would gift the earth
an emerald spring

338

Eye Of Storm

they tell me
madness of storm
carries with itself
eye of stillness
and so I search
for peace within
